Centre is designed for 200 scientists working in five areas of the complex, where connects between overseas Vietnamese scientists with those from foreign nations in science and technology cooperation.
Director of the municipal Department of Science & Technology Le Xuan Rao said with comprehensive and state-of-the-art equipment, the centre will serve the study and manufacture of high-tech products in the fields of electronics, automation, information and technology and precision mechanics, among others.
The centre will push the production of high-capacity solar batteries and is expected to draw national grid by 2020 in accordance with the national power development plan by 2030, he added.
Invested with the largest capital of 600 billion VND, modern research and production model, the centre is expected to produce "made in Vietnam" mechanical devices and electronic board products.
Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao highlighted that the centre marks significant progress for the city’s science and technology development.
Investing in the science and technology sector will create a premise for the success of the city’s construction and development, he affirmed.
Chairman Thao said the centre will open up opportunities to access new science and technology for scientists from institutes and universities in the capital.
The Chairman also required the department to coordinate closely with relevant agencies to manage, support and create favourable conditions for effective operation of the centre.
