Through volunteer guiding, the young people act as tourism ambassadors to show Hanoi`s hospitality.
Hanoi's Department of Tourism on March 22 organized a ceremony at the Temple of Literature to launch the volunteer team to support Thang Long – Hanoi tourism in 2019.
The team comprises of 300 members who are students majoring in tourism - culture - history from many universities in Hanoi, including Hanoi Open University, Vietnam National University, Hanoi University, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi University of Industry, University of Languages.
The annual event aims to promote the vanguard role and voluntarism of young people in the work of preserving, developing and promoting the value of tourism, culture and history of the capital city and the country to Vietnamese visitors and international friends, instilling in them the image of friendly, welcoming, charming and civilized Hanoians.
They will give tourism information at six spots including the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake surroundings, Ly Thai To square, Hanoi Old Quarter and Hanoi Night Market. The Hanoi Tourism Information Center will be set up at Le Thach street, Hoan Kiem district.
These volunteers must meet fairly high requirements, including a good academic record in their fields of majors, fluent in foreign languages, having good health, communication skills and loves volunteering.
The Hanoi Department of Tourism has provided training for the volunteers in communication, problem solving abilities, foreign language skills and enriched their knowledge of the city. All volunteers are confident, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about the city.
