Hanoi leaders extended Christmas greetings to parishioners

On the occasion of Christmas, Hanoi senior officials led by Standing Vice Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang met with Bishop John Vu Tat of Hung Hoa Diocese (Le Loi ward, Son Tay town) and offered season’s greetings.

At the meeting with Bishop Jean-Marie Vu Tat, priests, dignitaries and followers merry Christmas, Standing Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang acknowledged the significant contributions of Catholic dignitaries, priests and followers to the city’s socio-economic and cultural development in 2016.

On behalf of the Hanoi Party Committee and People’s Committee, Ngo Thi Thanh Hang wished Bishop Jean-Marie Vu Tat. She expressed her hope that the Catholics will continue to actively engage in local activities with a view to making the city more beautiful and civilised. 

For his part, Bishop Jean-Marie Vu Tat thanked city leaders for creating favorable conditions for the diocese. He confirmed to further contribute to developing the capital city. 

In 2016, Ha Noi successfully performs political, socio-economic tasks and ensures social protection. The followers of Hung Hoa Diocese took part in different movements, especially "All people unite to build a cultural lifestyle" movement. Social protection is guaranteed; people’s life is improved. Political system and unions are consolidated and enhanced. Infrastructure is maintained. The city also successfully organizes election for deputies of the National Assembly and People’s Council at all levels.

The Permanent Vice Secretary acknowledged contribution of the dignitaries and followers, especially Bishop Jean-Marie Vu Tat, to production, business, charity activities and movement of building cultural lifestyle in residential area. She expressed sincere thanks to the followers, and expected for their further contribution to Hanoi’s development.

Meanwhile, Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People’s Council Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc congratulated Catholic dignitaries and followers at the Bac Ninh Diocese on the occasion of Christmas.

She noted that in 2016, the city recorded the highest economic growth rate in six years, reaching and surpassing all socio-economic development targets. These achievements were remarkably contributed by religious followers and Catholics in particular.

Bishop of the Bac Ninh Diocese Hoang Van Dat pledged to encourage parishioners to abide by the Party’s policies and the State’s law and make more contributions to the capital development.

The same day, Nguyen Lan Huong, head of the city’s mass mobilisation department, also presented gifts to Catholics in Phuong Trung commune, Thanh Oai district.
