It is a proven fact that the media has always played a very important role in the society’s development over time, especially in the context of today`s information society.
The media has made significant contributions to the capital city’s development, stated Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, while addressing the workshop "The press's role in Hanoi's context of information society" held in Hanoi on November 22.
The development of IT and communications for over half a century has had a strong, positive impact on all fields. IT blurs the gap in time, space and makes the world flatter, apparently without geographic distance, he pointed out.
It is a proven fact that the media has always played a very important role in the society’s development over time, especially in the context of today's information society, Chung added.
According to Hanoi’s mayor, the more modern the society is, the more strongly the media develops, and its role is also gaining increasing importance, contributing to spreading information, conveying messages, connecting the community, promoting the society’s development in all fields.
Chairman Chung emphasized that in the context of information society in Vietnam in general and in Hanoi in particular, there are many positive and progressive changes, helping Vietnam to catch up with the time, but also posing negative issues which need urgent solutions, especially either the traditional media or the new media, especially the social networks.
