Hanoi opens more OCOP stores in city’s outskirts

Hanoi will intensify support for local OCOP businesses to develop trade networks and stores.

Two new stores for products under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program have been opened in Thanh Oai District’s Thanh Luong Commune and Thuong Tin District’s Hong Van Commune.

The  Hong Van Commune’s store offers nearly 100 OCOP products, including vegetables, pork, processed and handicraft products, from 13 businesses, cooperatives, and production facilities. This is the second OCOP store in Thuong Tin District.

While the other store, located at 545 National Highway No. 21B, sells OCOP products of Thanh Oai District, such as Thanh Luong steamed rice rolls, Tam Hung rice, spring rolls and vegetable.
According to Nguyen Trong Khien, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Oai District People's Committee, the district has developed 57 OCOP products that have been evaluated and graded.

Vice Chairman of the Thuong Tin District People's Committee Bui Cong Than said that it is one of the leading localities in the city with 152 OCOP products evaluated and classified and hundreds of other potential ones.

“In the coming time, we will continue to display more OCOP products at the stores to diversify our offerings,” he underlined.

He added that the locality expanded the store network for the OCOP Program to bring practical benefits to businesses, cooperatives, production facilities and consumers.

The two districts of Thanh Oai and Thuong Tin plan to combine the store network with tourist and handicraft villages to introduce OCOP products to a broader base of consumers and tourists, helping to promote production, business and economic development in rural areas.

Acting Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Tran Thi Phuong Lan said the city has collaborated with other towns and provinces to present Hanoi's products and send working groups to localities to exchange management operational experience of OCOP stores.

She added that the city would step up support for local companies to develop showroom networks.

Hanoi is leading the country in the number of OCOP products, with nearly 1,700 being ranked from 426 enterprises, cooperatives, and business households across the capital city.
