Hanoi’s petroleum trading system is ready to fully switch from RON A92 petrol to E5 bio-fuel from January 1 next year as the Government’s regulation, according to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade.
Previously, the Hanoi People’s Committee issued Plan No. 207 / KH-UBNN to guide relevant agencies and bodies as well as Hanoi-based petroleum businesses to prepare facilities, human resources and supply sources to meet the Government’s deadline of using E5 bio fuel from early 2018.
Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said that the department has inspected the whole system of petrol stations in the capital city from December 15 to ensure the selling smoothly.
Statistics from the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade showed that Hanoi has 489 petrol stations, of which 175 petrol stations have completed the replacement of RON 92 petrol to E5 bio fuel.
Consumption of bio fuel E5 in the capital is currently over 10,000 cu.m per month, accounting for about 9% of the area’s total gasoline consumption.
There are currently four E5 bio-fuel blending stations to supply the petrol for the capital’s market. To ensure the E5 bio fuel supply source, Ha Noi Department of Industry and Trade has instructed the stations to run fully production output to meet the demands of local consumers.
Lan said that the department has also required relevant agencies to map out incentive policies on price, tax and fee to ensure the trading of E5 bio fuel to have the same profit as RON 92.
Previously, the department also enhanced the propaganda work to further raise public awareness of the benefit of using E5 bio fuel, said Lan.
Under the Prime Minister’s Announcement 255/TB-VPCP on June 6, the trading and sale of RON 92 petrol will stop on December 31, 2017 and be replaced by the E5 bio fuel on January 1, 2018.
According to the Department of Science and Technology under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, E5 bio fuel has completely replaced RON92 petrol in four cities and provinces – Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Can Tho.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong said at a recent conference that there has been no complaint on the quality of E5 fuel from consumers since it was piloted in seven provinces and cities in late 2014.
Its quality and safety standards have been confirmed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, he added.
The deputy minister also said that the Finance and Industry and Trade ministries have been working on tax rates and selling prices to make E5 more attractive to consumers.
It is important to put E5 fuel into use nationwide as it will improve the country’s energy security situation, protect the environment and further develop the Vietnamese energy industry, Vuong said.
