Hanoi received 16.44 million visits in seven months

The Jan-Jul figure rose 11.8% on year, including 3.43 million international visitors and 13.01 million domestic arrivals.

These soaring numbers resulted in total tourist receipts for the period of VND63 trillion (US$2.53 billion), an increase of 18.9%.

In July 2024 alone, the capital city welcomed 2.52 million arrivals, up 7.4% on year, according to the Hanoi Tourism Department.

Specifically, international visits are estimated at 425,000, rising 20.8% and more than 2.1 million domestic tourists, up 5%. Total revenue from tourists for the month reached VND9.2 trillion ($366 million), up 10.3%.

To diversify tourism services, Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, said the department will finalize the draft decision of the Hanoi People's Committee on promulgating "Regulations on Management Models of City-Level Tourist Areas"; review the conservation and promotion of the Huong Son Landscape Complex in My Duc District - a special national historical relic and scenic area; and evaluate the set of criteria for environmental protection in tourist areas in 2024.

To encourage tourists to choose Hanoi as an event destination, the local tourism industry will focus on holding large-scale events, such as the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2024, Hanoi Sports Tourism Event Series 2024, a series of cultural and historical activities, or a program to stimulus domestic tourism.

In addition, attention will be given to the design of agro-rural tourism linked to new rural construction in Hanoi from 2022 to 2025. A plan will also be launched to develop a community-based tourism model combined with practical experience in craft villages, as well as tourist destinations imbued with traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities.

The department will also continue to promote new destinations and tours through media channels and increase the digital application in tourism management.
