Hanoi residents enjoy plum and safe specialties from Son La

In 2023, Hanoi is hosting a trade fair to promote plums and safe agricultural products from the northern province of Son La and other provinces and cities.

The Big C Thang Long Shopping Center in Cau Giay Ward is the venue for an event to showcase plums and safe delicacies from the northern province of Son La and other areas.

The event featured 30 booths displaying products from the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, safe farm produce, and specialties that meet the standards of safe food certifications such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP, OCOP, and organic farming from Son La Province and other localities.

Plums, mangoes, tea, lychees, avocados, bananas, dragon fruit, jackfruit, guavas, various vegetables, and processed products such as tea, coffee, dried fruits, and vermicelli are also on display at the fair, which runs until June 5.

At the event's opening ceremony on June 1, Central Retail Vietnam and Son La Province, and other provinces and cities signed memoranda of understanding (MOUs) on the sale of agricultural products.

Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La Province, said that the Plum and Safe Agricultural Products Week of Son La Province and other localities in 2023 is a good opportunity for domestic producers to find export markets, make breakthroughs in production organization, improve product quality, build brands, promote the consumption of agricultural products, and improve people's livelihoods and incomes.

Son La Province has nearly 85,000 hectares of fruit trees, with an estimated fruit yield of 452,000 tons in 2023. The province exports to Australia, New Zealand, the US, China, the EU, and some other markets, having obtained 281 codes for plantations with a total area of 4,600 hectares.

The province is home to 110 OCOP products, 24 agricultural products with Protected Geographical Indication certificates, and has recognized four high-tech agricultural areas. In 2023, it is expected to export about 18,700 tons of fruit products.
