Hanoi sets ambitious 2025 tourism targets
Aiming for 31 million visitors and a greener image, Hanoi intensifies efforts to stimulate domestic spending, promote international cooperation, and lead digital transformation in Vietnam’s tourism sector.
THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi expects to earn VND130 trillion (US$5.1 billion) from tourism this year, which will be contributed by 31 million visitors, including 7.5 million from overseas.

In the plan released this week, the city will focus on seven key areas, including cultural events, luxury travel experiences, international outreach, and a strong push for digital transformation.
A key feature is domestic travel incentives. Residents will be encouraged to experience premium services at four- and five-star hotels, with promotional packages designed to stimulate high-end spending. Meanwhile, travel agencies and transportation companies will offer more city tours and promotions.
At the same time, Hanoi will host a series of flagship festivals throughout the year, including the Tourism Gifts Festival, Ao Dai Festival, and Autumn Festival, to enhance the city's image as both a traditional and contemporary tourist destination.

Internationally, the city will deepen ties with other capitals and key markets by participating in major trade shows such as ITB Asia in Singapore, IMEX Frankfurt in Germany, and Top Resa in France. Tourism promotion programs are scheduled across Europe and Asia, while coordinated campaigns with airlines and local partners are expected to welcome international travel agencies and media to explore Hanoi's handicraft villages and locally made products.
Hanoi is also aggressively communicating on digital platforms. Social media campaigns will run on Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, as well as Vietnam Television and national airlines. A tourism photo contest will be launched to mark the 65th anniversary of Vietnam's tourism sector.
The city accelerates digital transformation in tourism management and marketing by integrating smart audio guides, AI-powered content, interactive maps, and virtual reality tools into tourism services. Meanwhile, data from tourism sites and businesses will be digitized and connected to a centralized management system.
Ensuring a welcoming environment remains a priority with information booths available in the Old Quarter and major attractions, as well as post-service inspections, safety coordination, and environmental hygiene measures.
The city's Department of Tourism will take the lead in collective efforts across sectors to ensure effective implementation.
