Hanoi reaffirms its commitment to strengthening market control, especially on online platforms.
Hanoi is stepping up efforts to crack down on e-commerce violations and protect consumer rights.
In the first eight months of 2024, the Hanoi Market Surveillance Department conducted over 3,600 inspections, effectively resolving over 3,500 infractions and recovering over VND68 billion (US$2.8 million) for the state budget.

The majority of these violations involve the production and sale of counterfeit, smuggled, and untraceable goods, intellectual property infringement, and substandard products.
The department noted that violations on online platforms have become more sophisticated as e-commerce continues to grow.
Chu Xuan Kien, Director of the Hanoi Market Surveillance Department, said authorities are conducting both scheduled and surprise inspections to deter violations. The current crackdown is focused on hotspots for commercial fraud and counterfeit goods, particularly in the e-commerce environment.
Of the violations addressed, 38 cases have been referred to investigative agencies for further prosecution.
"This underscores Hanoi's commitment to fighting fraud, smuggling and counterfeiting to maintain a healthy business environment for both businesses and consumers," he stressed.
The department stressed timely action against these violations not only protects consumer interests but also encourages businesses to adhere to legal standards, promoting sustainable growth in the e-commerce market.
