Hanoi to co-host Techfest and Vietnam-Asia Smart City Summit 2025

These events will showcase the capital’s strong commitment to innovation, digital transformation and sustainable urban development.

THE HANOI TIMES The Techfest Vietnam 2025 and the Vietnam-Asia Smart City Summit 2025 will take place from November 21-23 around Hoan Kiem Lake and its surrounding areas in Hanoi.

For Hanoi, hosting the two events together carries special significance. It underscores the capital’s pioneering role in implementing the amended Capital Law and realizing the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.

The events also aim to promote Hanoi’s image as a smart, innovative and globally connected city, while driving investment, attracting high-quality talent and advancing modern technologies for the capital’s socio-economic growth.

According to Truong Viet Dung, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, the city considers science, technology and innovation as key engines of its economic and social development.

“Hanoi is committed to working closely with the Ministry of Science and Technology and relevant agencies to organize major events that spread the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship across the community,” he said. “Our goal is to build Hanoi into the nation’s leading innovation hub.”

Under the theme “Nationwide Innovation as a New Growth Engine,” Techfest 2025 seeks to inspire entrepreneurship grounded in science and technology. The event will connect hundreds of technology projects, startups and investors from Vietnam and abroad.

An estimated 600-800 startup projects and 200-300 investment-ready startups are expected to participate, alongside technology showcases featuring AI, IoT, the Metaverse and AgriTech.

The key activities include the opening ceremony and the launch of the Week in Response to Resolution No. 57, product exhibitions, thematic seminars, business matching sessions, the “Innovative Startup Talent Search” competition, a policy forum and the Vietnam Smart City Awards 2025 ceremony.

Running in parallel, the Vietnam-Asia Smart City Summit 2025, themed “Green, Smart Cities Powered by AI,” will bring together policymakers, experts, and enterprises to discuss sustainable urban development, digital transformation, and green transition solutions.

The events are co-organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Hanoi People’s Committee.

This year's edition will be the seventh event for Techfest and the eighth for the Vietnam-Asia Smart City Summit.
