Hanoi Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung highlighted that Hanoi is willing to create the most favorable conditions for UK firms to invest in Hanoi.
The Hanoi leader made the statement at a reception for the out-going UK Ambassador to Vietnam Giles Lever, in Hanoi, on May 23.
At the reception, the UK Ambassador highly appreciated the positive role of the Hanoi authorities in reinforcing the relations between Hanoi and localities in the UK, as well as between Vietnam and the UK in general.
Ambassador Giles Lever noted that the UK Embassy in Vietnam will hold a series of exchanges and activities by the year's end, in order to boost the mutual understanding between the two countries and mark the 45th anniversary of the diplomatic ties (1973-2018). Among those activities, the embassy plans to hold the UK Day near Hoan Kiem Lake to popularize British culture to Vietnam and Hanoi city, which it hopes to receive the support and collaboration of Hanoi authorities.
The diplomat also expressed his hope that Hanoi would faciliate finance and credit firms from the UK to operate in the city in the near future.
For his part, the Hanoi Mayor said that the city will cooperate with the UK Embassy to hold activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the diplomatic ties, including the UK Day in Vietnam, as well as create favorable conditions for the UK firms to operate in Vietnam.
