Hanoi to develop craft village in parallel with tourism and trade promotion
The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has recently made a report on the results of craft village development in association with tourism and trade promotion in 2017.
Accordingly, over the past year, departments and sectors have made greater gains of the development of craft villages in association with tourism and trade promotion. Particularly, the Department of Industry and Trade has created favorable conditions for enterprises, handicraft producers to take part in domestic and international fairs.
Moreover, the Department has jointly strengthened communication on craft village promotion on mass media and enhanced exchanges of experience on craft village management and development in some northern provinces.
Similarly, the Hanoi Cooperative Alliance has sent handicraft cooperatives to attend Agricultural Product Fair in Hanoi, Vietnam – China International Tourism Fair in Quang Ninh Province.
Besides, the Department of Tourism has chaired and cooperated with departments, sectors to pilot the designing of logo or brand identity system of craft villages; make a scheme “Improving the quality of human resources for preservation and development of traditional craft villages in combination with tourism in Bat Trang ceramic village and Van Phuc silk village.
Especially, the Department of Architect and Planning organized a contest on planning traditional craft villages in combination with craft village tours in Van Phuc and Bat Trang village; give a guideline to Vietnam Technology Development Investment Joint Stock Company to build the project “Preservation and development of Son Dong traditional craft village in Hoai Duc suburban district.”.
The Department of Culture and Sports has coordinated with the Department of Cultural Heritage and the Institute of Fine Arts to make multinational dossier of traditional lacquer art. Accordingly, Hanoi has four traditional craft villages in the list, including Ha Thai, Duyen Truong (Thuong Tin), Boi Khe (Phu Xuyen) and Son Dong (Hoai Duc).
The Department of Culture and Sports has cooperated with Hanoi Radio Television to build reportages on traditional lacquer art to introduce the craft among Vietnamese and foreign audiences.
To promote the gained achievements, in 2018, departments, sectors, People’s Committees of districts, suburban districts and towns will continue to support enterprises, producers, handicraft cooperatives join in domestic and international fairs, exhibitions so as to introduce their brand names and expand the market.
Under the plan, the Department of Industry and Trade will take prime responsibility to organize Hanoi Gift Show 2018 and launch a contest on handicraft products of artisans and skilled craftsmen. While, the Department of Tourism will be in charge of designing the logo or brand identity system and, souvenir products of Hanoi tourism.
