Hanoi to enhance managing agricultural supplies and food safety

The Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has recently released Plan No. 01/KH-SNN, deploying the management of supplies and food safety in the agriculture and rural development sector in 2018.

Under the plan, in 2018, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will focus on following major tasks:

Improving the capacity of managing materials and food safety; enhancing inspection to timely detect and handle violation cases in producing, processing and trading agricultural products, fertilizers, veterinary drugs, plant protection and chemicals, especially banned substances in agricultural production; tightening the control of quality and food safety of agricultural products; strengthening inspection and traceability of products so as to minimize poisoning cases due to unsafe agricultural products.

Encouraging the development of hi-tech agricultural production areas; maintaining concentrated areas of safe vegetables, fruits, farming, aquaculture; building and replicating typical models of safe food supply chains.

Supporting enterprises in building their brand names and introducing their products; applying software in management, identification and traceability of fresh food by QR code stamps to ensure food safety for fruits at stores in downtown districts.

Strengthening inspection and evaluation of facilities producing, trading agricultural supplies and products in the capital city as regulated; strictly handling violation cases; signing commitments on producing safe food for small facilities; improving the capacity of the testing system and certification of food safety and hygiene.

Moreover, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will review, evaluate, classify and issue certificates of food safety for facilities producing and trading agricultural supplies.
