Hanoi to implement external information service in 2018-2020

The Hanoi People’s Committee has recently issued a plan on implementing external information service in the period of 2018-2020.

Under the plan, Hanoi expects that all portals or websites of departments, agencies, sectors, districts and towns will improve the quality of information about socio-economic status of localities and international information as well.

They will launch their portals or websites in English in 2020. 100% of officers in charge of the portals or websites and officers in charge of external information services in Hanoi are annually provided with knowledge of external information and language skills.
Hanoi’s major
external information channels will improve information quality, both introducing information on Hanoi to the world and bringing international information to Hanoi. New information channels in foreign languages should be launched apart from the ones in English and Chinese.
The information channel must proactively conduct popularization work and fight false information spread by hostile forces, help foreign friends and Vietnamese overseas easily access to information about the capital through the
external information channels.
Moreover, Hanoi should develop publications and souvenirs which are typical in Hanoi, complete the digitalized database to introduce and promote the images of sectors and localities in Vietnamese and in foreign languages to publicize on Hanoi’s portal.
The images of Hanoi should be introduced to overseas Vietnamese and international friends by annually organizing Hanoi book fairs and taking part in international book fairs.
The city will further improve the quality of Hanoi’s major external information channels such as Hanoimoi, Hanoitimes, bulletins in English and Chinese of Hanoi’s Radio and Television station, Hanoi’s portal, portal of the Hanoi Department of Foreign Affairs, and website of Hanoi friendship organizations.
