Hanoi plans to spend 1 million USD to promote the image of Vietnam and the city on CNN channel, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said at the a dialogue between the city’s authorities and entrepreneurs on November 28.
Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung announced at the dialogue between the city’s authorities and entrepreneurs on November 28 that the city has budgeted US$1 million of expenditures to promote the local advantages of the capital city on CNN.
The goal of the advertising will be for the City to try to differentiate itself from other lower-middle income countries, which are characterized by economic and political instability, to raise its image as a popular destination for travel and doing business.
"Hanoi has signed with CNN, starting from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018, will include images of Hanoi broadcast on CNN. This is one of the investment promotion programs, as well as tourism promotion. Through CNN, we will promote the image of Hanoi and Vietnam to attract tourists to Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general ", Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung stressed.
Chairman Chung noted that Hanoi has signed with CNN channel and the advertising will run January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018 and is intended to compensate for ineffective trade promotion activities like sending businesses to trade fairs and exhibitions abroad.
"This is one of the most effective investment and tourism promotion programs. We will promote the image of Hanoi and Vietnam on CNN to attract more tourists in the coming time", Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung stressed.
In September, Hanoi People`s Committee issued a notice announcing the conclusion of Vice Chairman Ngo Van Quy on the implementing Hanoi`s tourism promotion on CNN channel.
The municipal People's Committee issued a notice of conclusions of Vice Chairman Ngo Van Quy on tasks of the city's tourism promotion on CNN, pilot the building of logo, instructions of tourism products, and draft plans to implement the municipal Party's resolution on tourism development for the period 2016 - 2020.
According to the Vice Chairman, the municipal Party Committee has issued the resolution on the city`s tourism development for between 2016-2020, which is considered to be the strategic orientation to make tourism more sustainable and a key industry.
The resolution on the municipal tourism development from 2016 to 2020 identifies clearly to build high-quality, professional and concentrated tourism sector.
Particularly, the city's tourism should be attached to the developing of culture, creating a foundation to develop various types of travel.
Hanoi targets to welcome 30 million visitors, including 5.7 million international passengers, tourism growth rate will reach from 8-10% annually, and gaining 120,000 billion VND from tourism revennue by 2020.
The key target is to attract more visitors to the capital, especially foreign tourists so that they will extend their longer staying and increase spending.
To draw more foreign visitors to Hanoi, the city's tourism promotion on CNN channel is considered to be one of the most effective and necessary solutions, according to the Committee.
The municipal Department of Tourism was assigned to work with related agencies to prepare for the upcoming meeting between the Chairman of Hanoi city and CNN Business Manager in the Southeast Asia region.
The city's authorities approved the proposal of the municipal Department of Tourism and relevant departments to pilot building logo, signposts and tourism products in urban areas and two traditional villages of Bat Trang ceramics and Van Phuc silk.
