Hanoi to promote OCOP products from northern mountainous provinces

The event is part of the city's programs on Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Program and One Commune One Product (OCOP) promotion in 2022.

A fair introducing and OCOP products of northern mountainous provinces will take place from August 31 to September 4, 2022 in Son Tay Town on the outskirts of Hanoi.

About 100 booths displaying OCOP products from the northern mountainous areas will be arranged at the cultural space at Son Tay Town’s main square.

Exhibits at the event are OCOP products rated with three stars or higher, regional specialties, handicrafts, and potential OCOP products, with clear traceability and eye-catching packaging and labels.

Nguyen Van Chi, Permanent Deputy Chief of the Hanoi Coordination Office of New Rural Construction Program, told The Hanoi Times  that to support the marketing of OCOP products, the organizers will support exhibitors from provinces and cities by discounting 50% of the cost of the booth.

“This is also one of the important solutions of Hanoi in its efforts to promote the development of the OCOP program in 2022,” he said.

At the upcoming event,  contracts will be signed to bring OCOP goods and regional specialties into the modern retail system, and promote market expansion of agricultural products and quality foods.

The five-day event is estimated to feature many cultural and artistic performances as well as a culinary demonstration.

Earlier, a festival promoting agricultural and OCOP products of Hanoi and 29 localities took place in Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian area, from July 21-24.

According to a recent plan, Hanoi will foster cooperation with other localities in information and communications, investment promotion, trade, travel, agriculture, culture and sports, and education and training, among other fields.

The city and localities will hold a number of festivals promoting farm produce and products ranked by the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program associated with Hanoi’s tourism in the districts of Chuong My, My Duc, Phu Xuyen, and Ba Vi, and the Fruit Festival 2022.

The city will send delegations to northern, central and southern provinces to promote agricultural cooperation and participate in conferences on investment, trade and tourism promotion, such as the 2022 Regional Specialty Fair and Hanoi Commodity Week.
