Hanoi tries to make more efforts to improve air environment

The Capital City is making its most effort to improve air environment to ensure people`s life.

After one year of implementing the Resolution No.11-NQ/TU dated on May 31, 2017 of the Hanoi Party Committee on strengthening environmental protection in the capital city by 2020 and following years, Hanoi has made remarkable changes in preventing and minimizing polluting emissions and improving the quality of air environment.

Particularly, along with installing and operating automatic air monitoring stations, Ha Noi has promoted the program on planting one million trees, drawing the participation of many units, such as:  Vingroup, Vpbank, AIC, Vinaconex, GPInvest, etc.

By the end of October, 2017, the capital city planted about 449 thousand trees, accounting for 44.9%; trimmed 20 thousand trees under its management, etc.

The Municipal People’s Committee also approved the project on enhancing the management of road traffic means to reduce traffic congestion and environmental pollution in Hanoi for the 2017-2020 period with a vision towards 2030.

Accordingly, the project consists of 6 solution groups with 45 missions which will be implemented synchronously in three phases. For the 2017-2018 period, Hanoi will focus on carrying out measures to manage traffic vehicles and strengthen the state management of transport.

For the 2017-2020 period, the city will pay attention to performing solutions to manage the quantity and the quality of traffic vehicles and develop public passenger transport services.

For the 2020-2030 period, the city will take solutions to gradually reduce private traffic vehicles and prepare vital conditions to stop motorcycles in districts by 2030.

Besides, Hanoi has enhanced the monitoring work and controlling waste sources which pollute the environment. So far, the city receives and operates 10 automatic air monitoring stations funded by Vingroup Corporation.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment has boosted the cooperation with Phu Dien Company in installing and operating six automatic water surface monitoring stations.
