Hanoi’s 10 tourism titles honored by international media in 2017

2017 is considered a successful year for Hanoi tourism sector, Vietnam’s capital honored by many travel website and international newspaper.

New Airbnb data released earlier this month put two major cities of Vietnam – Hanoi, and Da Nang – among the world’s top 10 intriguing travel destinations in 2018. Based on booking data in the first half of 2018, Airbnb announced a list of the world’s top 10 destinations for the coming year, in which Danang ranks fifth in booking surges of up to 255 percent against the same period this year while Hanoi comes 9th in the list, with a 212 percent year-on-year increase.
In the annual Top City Destinations Ranking report issued early last month at the World Travel Market event in London, Hanoi, the 1,000-year-old city, ranks 52nd among the world’s 100 leading cities in terms of international tourist arrivals as this year it looks to welcome 4.3 million foreign travelers, up 7.5 percent.
Pinterest ranked Hanoi as the third of dream destination in the world
Pinterest is a web and mobile application company that operates a software system designed to discover information on the World Wide Web, mainly using images and on a shorter scale, GIFs and videos. The site was founded by Ben Silbermann, Paul Sciarra and Evan Sharp.
On 2017 December, Pinterest has announced 20 dream destination in the world, in which, Pinterest ranked Hanoi as the third of dream destination.

Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s two biggest metropolises, have recently been named among the world’s 100 best food destinations voted by 20,000 food journalists and restaurant critics in a survey conducted by Caterwings, the U.K-based site that offers online food ordering services in Europe.
This is not the first time the country’s two fastest-growing cities have earned plaudits from global culinary experts and food-lovers as Hanoi gained the second spot after Tokyo in a list of the world’s 17 greatest cities for cuisine released by The Telegraph in February this year.

According to the MasterCard Global Destinations Cities Index 2017, Hanoi has been ranked 7th on a new list of the world’s fastest-growing tourism cities, with a 16.4 percent average annual growth rate in the 2009 - 2016 period.

The EU visa exemption policy has had a huge impact on Ha Noi room rates. The capital city had the highest regional growth rate of 50 percent. Singapore rates were up by 11.6%, Manila by 8.9% and Kuala Lumpur by 7.4 percent.
Outstanding performance in Viet Nam hotel markets continued, influenced by increasing numbers of China, Russia and South Korea inbounds. Hospitality development is booming as domestic and international developers move to secure, or improve their positions.
Hanoi ranked sixth on the list "Lead the trend of destination for tourism" with a 26 percent increase in Airbnb booking.
