The city had over 294,000 hectares of cultivation land. The value of agricultural products from 1ha of agricultural land was estimated at 233 million VND per 1ha, an increase of more than 2 million VND compared with 2014. In 2016, the city's agricultural production is forecasted to face many difficulties and challenges of the weather conditions. The munincipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will focus on developing agriculture towards the agricultural goods processing, high-tech applications, and producing clean and high quality products.
The Department targets to reach the growth of agricultural-added value from 3.5 to 4% in 2016.
To achieve this goal, the restructuring of plants and animals will play an important role for the city's agriculure.

He also noted that in 2016, the municipal agricultural sector will meet major challenges with the country’s deeper integration into the global economy and more specifically the ASEAN bloc.
The Vice Chairman proposed the department to revise the investment plan with the focus on tasks of floods prevention and production.
Vice Chairman Tran Xuan Viet stressed the need to provide training for agricultural experts and farmers and suggested that relevant organisations should coordinate to implement comprehensive projects and training schemes.
