Hanoi's agriculture attractive to businesses of Saudi Arabia

Vice Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Doan Toan received the Saudi Arabia`s delegation of the Sharijah Business Federation during its working visit to Vietnam on December 19.

At the meeting with the Saudi Arabia's delegation, Vice Chairman Nguyen Doan Toan said the capital of Hanoi has a population of nearly 10 million people and the city's agricultural land nows accounts for 47.6%.

According to the Vice Chairman, Hanoi's agricultural products meet about 60% of demand of local residents.
In the coming time, the city will pay attention to developing the agricultural sector, focused on providing clean and safe agricultural products with the strengths, he noted.
Vice Chairman Toan said that Hanoi is planning to bring the advanced technology from other countries to develop its agricultural sector and build retail distribution system, supermarkets, markets across the city, especially the management system of product quality.
Appreciating the efforts of Hanoi authorities in developing the city's agriculture, President of the Sharijah Business Federation Saeed Alsuwidi expressed his pleasures at the increasingly good relation development between Vietnam and Saudi Arabia in recent years.
He said businesses in Saudi Arabia have imported agricultural products from Thailand.
Saudi Arabia now is still looking for additional sources of clean agricultural products from other countries, including from the capital of Hanoi which is considered as a potential agricultural market, he added.
During the meeting, Saeed Alsuwidi also said the Government of Saudi Arabia is interested in buying qualified agricultural products to serve the needs of people in the country.
Saudi Arabia's businesses hoped to further cooperate with the Hanoi authorities to be able to import fruits and spices from the capital of Vietnam.
