Hanoi's peaceful streets come alive in vibrant watercolors by a young Hanoi artist.
Nguyen Dang Hai Nam has recently opened his solo exhibition titled "Color of Spring" at the Fine Art Exhibition House No.16 Ngo Quyen, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, capturing the attention of art connoisseurs.

The exhibition features nearly 40 watercolors depicting Hanoi and Vietnam, reflecting the artist's love for where he grew up. Each piece has its unique charm. For example, "The Miraculous Journey of Connection" captures the iconic beauty of the Long Bien Bridge, which connects Hanoi to Haiphong by rail; "Hanoi Opera House - Melody of the Country" shows the grandeur of Hanoi's oldest theater; while "Autumn for You" depicts the Old Quarter bathed in the warm glow of thousands of lanterns during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Artist Le Tien Vuong, Head of the Artstar Children's Art Club at Thieu Nien Tien Phong newspaper, praised Hai Nam's work: "The young artist demonstrates a high level of skill in watercolor, combining colors and light with gentle and luminous tones that express the beauty of nature while evoking the warmth and tranquility of Hanoi."

While Hai Nam's style is rooted in traditional art, it also brings a modern twist through innovative color combinations and spatial awareness, according to Vuong.
"His technique is exceptionally delicate. He skillfully layers colors that blend seamlessly to create harmonious, eye-catching effects that demonstrate his sensitivity and mastery of color," he added.
Hai Nam's paintings reflect a love of nature and life, while reminding the viewer of the simple, often overlooked wonders in the world around them, something easily forgotten in today's fast-paced life.
The painter himself said: "Each of my paintings tells people about my love and passion as an artist. My joy lies in wandering through every corner of Hanoi, discovering the colors of life and painting my own stories".
The “Color of Spring” exhibition by young artist Nguyen Dang Hai Nam will be on display until the end of December.
