Hanoi’s cuisine introduced to international tourists

Along with the cultural values that are being preserved and promoted, Hanoi’s culinary culture is also an important factor that conquers international tourists because of its diversity, freshness and imbued national identity.

To mark the 20th anniversary of Hanoi’s recognition as City for Peace by the UNESCO General Assembly (July 16, 1999 – 2019), a food court introducing Hanoi’s cuisine is set up at 36 Ly Thai To street, Hoan Kiem district.

The designs of some 18 food stalls in the food court were inspired by the “City for Peace” in the forms of old town architecture, ancient village and some typical images of the capital city and built with environmentally-friendly materials.

A range of Hanoi typical dishes have been selected to be showcased including Pho, Ho Tay shrimp cake, rolls (made with rice sheets), sticky rice nuggets and cereal cakes, Vietnamese tea, coffee and milk candy, soft drinks, Trang Tien ice cream, tropical fruits, among others.

This is an opportunity to introduce and promote Hanoi’s culture and people. Besides, the food stalls also introduce the sophistication and variety of spices that make the dishes unique.

As the only city in the Asia-Pacific region being awarded the title "City for Peace", after 20 years, Hanoi has been making continual efforts to deserve the title.

Hanoi in the eyes of international friends is a capital dynamically in development but still retaining traditional and historical traits through typical architectural features.

Along with the cultural values that are being preserved and promoted, Hanoi’s culinary culture is also an important factor to conquer international tourists because of its diversity, freshness and imbued national identity.

Hanoi has been considered an attractive destination not only for its landscapes, tranquility, friendliness and safety for tourists, but also for its convergence of long-standing culinary culture and modernity.

The food fest will last until July 14, 2019.
