However, the locale's agricultural production still faces shortcomings, especially in processing, Quang added.
Le Van Thu, chairman of Hanoi Cooperative Alliance (HCA), said local production only meets 50% demand of consumption in Hanoi, while there is still a lack of awareness of food safety procedures.
"At first, Hanoi can supply agricultural input to Thai businesses and collective farmings," Thu suggested.
At the meeting, Thai News Director Ubolnadda Supawan expected cooperation between companies of the two countries will further be enhanced in the future. For example, Thailand has to import radish from China due to the lack of supply from the domestic market, which presents opportunities for cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam.
Representatives of Thai agri-businesses stressed the importance of food safety for exporting Vietnamese agricultural products to Thai market.
Nguyen Anh Duc, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Economic & Urban Newspaper, expected the meeting will serve as a brigde facilitating cooperation between Vietnam and Thai businesses, in turn establishing strong agricultural trade in the future.
Before the meeting, the Thai delegation paid a visit to Dong Cao and Phu My collective farmings in Me Linh district, which produce vegetables under the VietGAP standard (Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices).
Notably, radish and yardlong bean from these collective farming have been exported to South Korea and Taiwan (China).
