HCM City to welcome New Year with vibrant festivities and firework shows
Ho Chi Minh City will dazzle its local as well as domestic and foreign visitors with a wide range of activities and firework shows to welcome New Year.
Several streets in downtown areas like Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Nguyen Van Troi, Ham Nghi, Dong Khoi, Le Duan and Pham Ngoc Thach will be decorated with led lights, featuring the city’s development process. Art performances will be held on the night of December 31 and January 1 in various districts.
Particularly, the “New Year’s Countdown LIGHTS 2018” festival is scheduled to run on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street on December 31.
Hundreds of domestic and foreign artists will stage stellar performances at a light festival held on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street on December 31 to welcome the New Year 2018. The vibrant festival will enlighten stories of the southern hub - a modern and civilised city that still preserves traditional values through folk arts.
A stunning 3D show will be staged at the building of the municipal People’s Committee.
Other festive activities include Kids by Light and ice-cream festival.
A firework display will sparkle the city’s Dam Sen Park on New Year’ Eve. Accordingly, one high-range and three low-range firework shows are set to take place at Thu Thiem tunnel (district 2) and Dam Sen Cultural Park (district 11), Cu Chi tunnel (Cu Chi district) and Rung Sac Square (Can Gio district) from 0:00 to 0:15 on January 1, 2018.
Meanwhile, one high-range and five low-range shows will light up the sky of Districts 2 and 11, and the districts of Cu Chi, Can Gio, Nha Be and Hoc Mon on February 16 or the first day of the first lunar month. The city will use funds from social sources to pay for the firework shows.
