Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan on April 21 met with Chinese Minister of Culture Cai Wu who is on a visit to Vietnam.
Quan welcomed Cai’s visit as a vivid manifestation of the friendship and all-round cooperation between Vietnam and China.
He noted HCM City has established relationships with many Chinese localities such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, Guangdong, Jiangxi and Zhejiang. It has so far attracted 130 Chinese invested projects with total capital of nearly US$300 million.
Quan thanked the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Chinese arts schools in particular for training local students in culture and arts, especially dancing.
For his part, Cai expressed his admiration for HCM City’s impressive growth and said he believes the city will play an important role in fostering Vietnam-China cooperation in trade and culture.
Cai spoke highly of the result of the recent 6th meeting of the ASEAN Ministers responsible for Culture & Arts (AMCA) and related meetings held in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.
He said culture exchange will promote cooperation and help young generations of Vietnam and China better understand about each country’s culture.
