Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2017

The Opening ceremony with special art performance will be commenced at 8p.m, April 28th, 2017. At artisan and traditional craft villages’ space, products made by outstanding from Hue as well as other international and country-wide famous artisans are introduced, exhibited, and on sale.
Especially, various activities of demonstrations, handicraft hands-on guidance and exchanges between artisans and visitors will be held. Artworks, royal artifacts, excellent collections of famous collectors will be also on display during the festival...
The rite to commemorate the patrons of all crafts and the procession honoring crafts are two traditional ceremonies to express the gratefulness and honour to values of Vietnamese traditional crafts as well as praise and memorize the great contribution of forerunners, craft villages and generations of artisan.
Within Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2017, there will be also various culture, community activities as well as responding activities, such as Culinary Festival in which special and delicious dishes from Hue as well as other parts of Vietnam made by talented artisans are introduced.
According to the Standing Vice-Chairman of the Hue municipal People’s Committee, Nguyen Dang Thanh, the traditional craft festival aims to restore, preserve and develop traditional crafts and craft villages, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development and diversifying products in service of tourism.

The six-day event will introduce 13 groups, including embroidery, jewelry, fine arts carpentry, brass foundry, pottery, conical leaf hat-making, paper flower and embroidery painting, along with a number of products of long-standing trademarks and traditions.
The major focus of the festival will be the Ao dai (long dress) festival, taking place at Truong Tien Bridge on the night of April 30, and the fashion show — “Convergence of Asian Identities” — which will showcase items by 19 designers from Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia and Spain.
Closing program will be combined with the announcement ceremony in which outstanding domestic and abroad prizes and art programs will be officially honored.
After 6 seasons, Hue Traditional Craft Festival has gradually built its own image, gained the great trustworthy of resident, tourists, country-wide artisans as well as attracted attention of international friends. At present, Hue People's Committee and the organization board of Hue Craft Festival 2017 are making unceasing effort to prepare for a practical, efficient and successful festival.
