“I Love Vietnam” contest receives more than 1,100 photos

The 8th National Tourism Art Photography Contest titled “I Love Vietnam” which opened in January 2018, received more than 1,100 photos from local and foreign photographers.

By March 2018, the 8th National Tourism Art Photography Contest’s organizers received more than 1,100 photos from local and foreign photographers. These 1,100 works depict nature and landscapes, folk festivals and rituals, handicraft villages, and people from across the country.

In addition, for the first time, digital submissions and .jpg images are permitted as a way of staying abreast of the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0), supporting entrants at , the national photo contest’s organizers received 220 photos from international photographers around the whole world.
Organized by Vietnam National Administration of Tourism of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, the contest aims to introduce Vietnamese culture and people to foreigners, raising awareness of tourism and attracting more visitors to Vietnam. The contest is one of the means of promoting domestic tourism and turning tourism into a spearhead economic sector.
The 8th National Tourism Art Photography Contest themed “I love Vietnam” is one of the meaningful activities celebrating the establishment of Vietnam  Tourism (September 7, 1970). The eighth contest of its kind is open to Vietnamese citizens at home or abroad, foreigners living and working in Vietnam, and professional and amateur photographers of all ages who are to capture the beauty of the land and the people of Vietnam from creative angles on travel, destinations, culture, life, and so on.
An awards ceremony and an exhibition will be held in July. There are one first, two second, three third, and five consolation prizes. The first prize is VND15 million ($650) in cash and an outbound tour from the sponsor.
The contest was first launched in 1990, with last year’s edition running under the theme “Vietnam Today,” which attracted 5,500 works, including color and black & white photos.
