However, Vietnamese tourist companies and travel agents have not yet taken full advantages in utilizing information and technology in boosting their competitiveness, attracting customers and managing their companies.
The participants also shared experience from developed countries in implementing smart tourism and introduced other solutions and technologies to boost smart tourism in Vietnam.
Vu The Binh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, stressed the need for tourism businesses to build user-friendly websites, which are compatible with smartphones, and provide users with online transactions making these transactions easier for online customers.
He also called on State agencies to provide technical support and favorable policies for domestic businesses, increase promotion programmes and boost the advantages of online marketing.
Last year, a tourism information center opened in Ha Noi on October 7 to help domestic and foreign tourists more options to discover the capital city and beautiful places nearby.
The center, managed by the Ha Noi Department of Tourism, aims to promote the city’s tourism and serve tourists better. It provides information about destinations in Ha Noi and other provinces, as well as tours to these destinations. Tourists can book tours with many travel companies through the center.
Located at 28 Hang Dau Street, the center is open daily from 8 am to 6 pm. A hotline is also available at (84) 941336677 for tourist inquiries and complaints. It runs from Wednesday to Sunday for Vietnamese and English speaking tourists.
