Deep discounts at Hanoi Midnight Sale

This is designed to unlock the potential of Hanoi's night-time economy, creating a vibrant shopping and entertainment environment for residents and visitors.

The "Hanoi Midnight Sale 2024", held on November 29 and 30, attracted more than 200 shops and nearly 10 supermarkets and shopping malls, offering many discounts.

The event featured in-store and online promotions with heavy discounts from 5pm to 10pm, offering a minimum of 50% off, and up to 100% off from 10pm to 2am. Multiple flash sales will be synchronized across all participating points of sale and e-commerce platforms, offering discounts of up to 100%.

Nguyen The Hiep, Deputy Director of Hanoi's Department of Industry and Trade, said the special event, which coincides with Black Friday, aims to boost production and business and contribute to the capital's growth in trade, services and tourism.

He added that the event  promotes the use of modern technology in business operations, connecting with banking systems and smart electronic payment wallets, thus encouraging the development of e-commerce. "This initiative aims to unleash the potential of Hanoi's night economy and create a vibrant shopping and entertainment environment for residents and visitors," he said.

The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has urged businesses to ensure they have a good supply of quality products with clear origins and reasonable prices, while promoting civilized trade practices, the deputy director said.

Nguyen Minh Tuan, Director of GO!/Big C supermarket chain, one of the participating companies, said: "We are committed to providing consumers with a large quantity of high quality goods at discounts of up to 100%."

In 2023, the "Hanoi Midnight Sale" featured more than 2,000 merchants, including supermarkets, shopping centers, and brand chains such as Central Retail, AeonMall, BRGMart, Co.opMart, WinMart, MediaMart, and Pico.

They launched more than 3,000 in-store and online promotions with a total value of nearly VND25 trillion (US$1 billion). As a result, store traffic jumped 200% to 220% compared to normal days, with more than two million shoppers and nearly 10 million visits to shopping websites and apps.

The event is part of the Hanoi Concentrated Promotion Program 2024, which runs in May, July, and November and involves up to 2,000 enterprises, about 1,000 retail outlets, and 50 promotion sites across the city.

In addition, Hanoi has other activities to stimulate consumption and  trade, such as November Promotion Festival; Consumer Goods and Products Fair; Hanoi Safe Agricultural and Food Products Fair; Fruit and Agricultural Products Week from other provinces and cities in Hanoi; Hanoi Green Products for Consumers 2024 Fair, and others.
