Vietnam has undergone four coronavirus waves with the ongoing outbreak began late April, caused 2,165 infections and claimed 7 deaths.

The northern province of Bac Giang which is located Apple’s major assembler Foxconn remains the hotspot of the fresh outbreak with 919 cases, followed by the neighboring province of Bac Ninh (467) that houses Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV). Both localities are located Samsung’s vendors.

On May 23, the day of the national election that voters cast their ballots for deputies of the National Assembly (NA) and representatives of the all-level People’s Council for the 2021-2026 tenure, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue went to Bac Giang and Bac Ninh to check the voting there.

He said if the two provinces finished the voting earlier, the national election would be surely successful.

So far, a special task force of the Ministry of Health has worked in Bac Giang for one week to support the Covid-19 fight there.

The situation in the two provinces remains under control, according to the task force.

Duong Chi Nam, deputy head of the ministry’s Department of Medical Environment Management, said the ministry has built detailed scenarios for quarantine zones. It helps curb the spread of the pandemic.

On the same day, police in Ngoc Lac district of Thanh Hoa province initiated investigations on a case involving a resident for “spreading infectious diseases to humans.” The man who came home from Bac Giang epicenter since May 17 has violated home quarantine rules, causing infection to others.
