Messages marking 65 years of Vietnam-China ties

In observance of the 65th anniversary of the Vietnam-China diplomatic ties, senior leaders from both nations have exchanged congratulatory messages.

Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung exchanged congratulatory messages with Chinese Party leader and President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Li Keqiang and Head of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhang Dejiang. 

In the messages, Vietnamese leaders wrote: “On January 18, 1950, the People’s Republic of China was the first state to set up diplomatic ties with the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, marking an important milestone in the long lasting relationship between the two countries.


Over the past 65 years, despite numerous difficulties, two countries made every effort to enhance cooperation and friendship between the two Parties and the two countries.

The strengthening of bilateral friendship and cooperation is completely in line with fundamental and long lasting benefits of the two peoples and contributes to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

We are happy to witness the development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China over the past few years. The two countries have maintained meetings and contacts between their leaders and increased bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields. 

The Vietnamese Party, State and people always treasure and want to work with the Chinese Party, State and people to strengthen the traditional friendship and the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China in a stable and sustainable manner”.

In their congratulatory messages to Vietnamese leaders, Chinese leader wrote: “China and Vietnam are friendly neighbors and that friendly cooperation has always been the mainstream of interactions since the two countries established diplomatic relations 65 years ago. 

In recent years, the two countries have developed China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership under the motto of friendly neighborliness, comprehensive cooperation, long lasting stability and looking toward the future” and the in the spirit of “good neighbor, good friends, good comrades and good partners”.

They have maintained frequent high-level contacts and obtained great achievements in various cooperation fields bringing tangible benefits to the two countries and peoples.

The Chinese leaders said against the background of profound changes in global and regional arenas, good-neighborliness and friendship, enhanced political mutual trust and deepened cooperation are in line with the aspirations of the two peoples and their fundamental interests. They are also conductive to regional peace, stability and development.

They said the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government attached great importance to China-Vietnam relations and stand ready to work with Vietnam to carry forward strategic cooperation, bearing in mind a strategic and long-term perspective and the need to steer bilateral relations in the correct direction and boost the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Minh Binh exchanged a congratulatory message with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
