A painting contest themed “I love Hanoi – a peaceful city” took place in Hanoi on May 27.
In the spirit of International Children day, the contest jointly held by Hanoi Association of Friendship Organizations (HAUFO) and Hanoi Peace Committee, Hanoi Children’s Palace, attracts more than 100 children, aged 5-15, from Hanoi and several countries like India, Russia, Sri Lanka and the Philippines who are living in the city.
The event was a chance to encourage the creativeness of children and strengthen friendship and solidarity between Vietnamese and foreign children.
The organising board announced the award structure including one special prize, two 1st prizes, three 2nd prizes, five 3rd prizes, ten consolation prizes and nine speciality prizes.
Tran Thi Phuong, HAUFO’s Vice President, in her opening remark, expressed the hope that contest attendants today would send their love for the peace, the nation, the nature and Hanoi – the city of Peace in their paintings. The contest aims to connect children from Vietnam as well as other coutries and enhance their friendships.
As part of the event, 500 photos taken by photographers from 20 nations were exhibited.
Director of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Hanoi Natalia Shafinskya said that through this contest and photos, the organising board wants to introduce uniqueness and similarities of children from different nations as well as their vulnerability, and emphasises the responsibility of people to protect the future generations.
