Mozambique’s university willing to enhance ties with Vietnamese partners

The educational promotion would help diversify forms of educational cooperation and bilateral friendship between Mozambique and Vietnam.

The Pedagogical University of Maputo (UP-Maputo), one of Mozambique’s leading educational universities, is expressing its wish to promote academic cooperation and student exchange activities with Vietnamese universities.

The UP-Maputo Rector Jorge Ferrão made the statement at his recent reception for Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique Le Huy Hoang.

Jorge Ferrão said the educational promotion would help diversify forms of educational cooperation and bilateral friendship between the two countries.

The rector appreciated the outcome of the academic cooperation between his university and Vietnamese universities, especially the effectiveness of the lecturers and students majoring in Portuguese and Vietnamese exchange programs.

Jorge Ferrão expressed his wish that Vietnam and Mozambique will keep diversifing cooperation methods, strengthening direct relations among universities in both countries, enhancing experience, sharing activities, including the application of digital technology in teaching.

For his part, Ambassador Le Huy Hoang welcomed active and proactive initiatives of UP-Maputo in fostering educational cooperation between Vietnam and Mozambique, and highly valued the country’s provision of scholarships for Vietnamese students.

Hoang said that the number of Vietnamese students graduating from the UP-Maputo have contributed to bridging the two countries’ friendship, participating in practical bilateral economic cooperation.

The ambassador hoped the UP-Maputo and other Mozambican universities would grant more scholarships for Vietnamese students in the future.

Founded in 1985, the UP-Maputo is the first and only public university in Mozambique specializing in teaching methods for all educational levels of the National System of Education (SNE).

Vietnam and Mozambique last December 18 celebrated the 45 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries. This important milestone opened up a new chapter in their relations, which have enjoyed proud, substantive, and effective achievements.
