National Assembly adopts more laws

The National Assembly adopted the Law on Government Organisation (revised), the Law on Organisation of Local Governments, the Law on Military Service (revised) and the Law on Veterinary at a plenary session on June 19.

During the day, deputies also discussed the draft law on the organisation of criminal investigation agencies. Opinions focused on the apparatus of the investigative police agency and the apparatus, tasks and power of the People’s Supreme Procuracy. The responsibilities of the police force at grassroots level and the criteria for appointing investigators also attracted attention.

Examining the draft law on detainment and custody, NA deputies paid attention to the rights and obligations of detainees, methods to manage prisoners who are sentenced to death, and apparatus, tasks and power of agencies in this field.
The legislature will resume the session on June 22 to discuss the draft amendments to the Vietnam Maritime Code and the draft revised law on statistics.
The same day, lawmakers are scheduled to vote on the law on promulgating legal normative documents and the resolution on one-time payment of social insurance for workers.
