Nearly 50 countries and territories to attend 5th Hanoi Int'l Film Festival

The event aims to expand the Vietnamese cinema market, thus promoting the country’s image to international friends.

The 5th Hanoi International Film Festival will take place from October 27 to 31, and is expects to attract attendants from nearly 50 countries and territories. In addition, around 1,200 domestic and foreign delegates will attend the festival.

The information was announced by Director of the Cinematography Department Ngo Phuong Lan at a press conference on August 23.

With theme “Cinema: Integration and Sustainable Development”, the organizing board hopes to expand the Vietnamese cinema market, thus promoting the country’s image to international friends.
In addition, the festival also looks to honor outstanding cinematographic works with high artistic and humanitarian value and creativity, while also encouraging new movie talents, Lan said.
Earlier, the organizing board has selected 500 films from 50 countries and territories which include India, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, China, Estonia, Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Brazil, among others.
The highlight of this year’s festival is that the films have been selected from many countries and territories around the world, some of which have never competed in international film festival in Asia.
A series of activities will be held during the event, such as HANIFF Campus and Film Project Market, exhibition on filming locations in Vietnam, seminar on Polish and Iranian cinema, outdoor screenings, art performances, etc.
The opening and closing ceremonies of the event will be broadcast live on VTV2 and VTV1 channels of the Vietnam Television (VTV) on October 27 and 31, respectively.
This will be the opportunity for the audience to participate in events and programs of the festival and enjoy cinematographic works of the international cinema through free film screenings.
