Nearly a thousand artists to attend exchange festival between Vietnam and Laos
The culture, sports, and tourism festival for ethnic minority communities in the Vietnam-Laos border area, Vietnam’s central region, and Central Highlands, will take place from May 17 to 19.
The exchange festival is expected to draw nearly a thousand artisans and artists from ethnic groups of Vietnam’s Kon Tum, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien-Hue provinces as well as four art troupes from Attapu, Sekong, Savannakhet, and Salavan provinces of Laos, To Quoc reported.
The event with theme “Solidarity, friendship, and development” is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Thua Thien-Hue provincial People’s Committee.
The event aims to promote solidarity, mutual understanding, friendship, and cultural exchanges between these regions
According to the organizing board, several activities will be held during the festival, including exhibitions promoting local cultural and tourism products, public art performances, ethnic costume shows, folk games such as tug of war, crossbow shooting, men’s volleyball, and brocade weaving.
In addition, the festival will feature the cultural and tourism products of localities, exhibitions on cultural traits and cuisine art of ethnic minority groups, eco-tourism and community tourism surveys in A Luoi district, Thua Thien-Hue province and Tay Giang district, Quang Nam province.
The opening ceremony will take place at the central square of A Luoi district, Thua Thien-Hue, on May 17 evening while the closing ceremony will be held on May 19.
Earlier, hundreds of young people from Laos, Cambodia and host nation, Vietnam, gathered together in a cultural exchange held at Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City on March 31.
The event was organized by Ho Chi Minh City youth union with the aim of boosting mutual understanding among students of the three nations, who are currently studying in the city’s universities.
On this occasion, Laotian and Cambodian students tie a bracelet around the wrists of their Vietnamese friends, a long-standing tradition to them wish peace and health.
