No vacancy in luxury hotels in Hanoi ahead of Trump-Kim summit
Both online and direct reservations are unable to be made as advanced booking packed dozens of luxury hotels days ago.
Local media reports show that many five-star hotels in Hanoi are fully booked two weeks ahead the forthcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un on February 27-28.

Data from online booking platforms namely Booking, Agoda, and Traveloka by February 13 showed that no rooms in over 10 five-star hotels in Hanoi were available from February 25 to March 2.
Four luxury hotels namely Sofitel Legend Metropole, JW Marriott, Sheraton, and Daewoo, where US presidents stayed, have reported no vacancy some days ago.
No information on both the place for the summit and hotels for the stay of the two leaders has been disclosed, but the online Tin Tuc newspaper reported that JW Marriott has conditions which is good for the summit as it is was not surrounded by high-rise buildings.
This hotel offered the stay for the then US President Barack Obama when he paid an official visit to Vietnam on May 22-25, 2016. Chinese President Xi Jinping stayed here when he visited Vietnam in November 2017, so did South Korean President Moon Jae-in in March 2018.
Tin Tuc newspaper also reported that other hotels near the JW Marriott Hotel notified tour companies here that they would not be taking any reservations until after the forthcoming summit.
In another move, newswire Zing reported that some international news agencies have sent their reporters to Hanoi to cover the summit.
A representative of a Japanese television told Zing that its delegation in Vietnam on this occasion numbers 30 while Japan’s NHK broadcasting organization will have some 100.
Reuters may have a delegation of 40 while several big South Korean broadcasters may double the number each.
Remarkably, the number of reporters from the White House accompanying the US president and US giant news agencies and broadcasters namely CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and AP would amount hundreds.
In the first Trump-Kim summit in Singapore, the number of international reporters hit more than 3,000.
