Number of 3G subscribers in Vietnam reaches 8 million

Mobile service providers have developed eight million 3G subscribers in Vietnam, narrowing the digital gap between urban and rural areas.

The Hanoitimes - Mobile service providers have developed eight million 3G subscribers in Vietnam, narrowing the digital gap between urban and rural areas.

The figure was released at a conference held in Hanoi o­n July 20 by the Ministry of Information and Communications to review the development of 3G services.

At the event, Minister of Information and Communications Le Doan Hop revealed that with its rapid telecommunications development, Vietnam currently ranks 8th among 192 member countries of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Internet service providers said that 3G services have helped them earn a huge amount of income. By 2010, the total revenue from 3G services had reached VND3.6 trillion.
