Local and foreign visitors have a variety of domestic tour options during the upcoming lunar New Year holiday (Tet), which will last from February 15 to 23 this year, as travel companies increase their promotion programmes for reasonably-priced tours to attractive destinations.
According to a survey, Southern Vietnamese prefer to spend their holiday travelling, as they consider Tet a chance to refresh themselves and an earned respite for the efforts they made during the year.
In recent years, more and more southerners, who experience hot weather year-round, have chosen to visit the chilled north to enjoy Tet. In response to this, tour operators have organised tours to Hanoi, Sa Pa, and the UNESCO-recognised heritage sites of Ha Long Bay and Trang An complex.

Tourists can enjoy the New Year’s Eve with Hanoians around Hoan Kiem Lake, or join ethnic minorities in mountainous areas to welcome the first days of the lunar New Year.
Meanwhile, Northern Vietnamese are offered tours to destinations with warmer weather, such as the floating markets, flower villages and trade villages of the southern region. They can also opt for warm beaches like Nha Trang, Mui Ne, and Phu Quoc.
