Over 160 artists to join ASEAN Music Festival in Haiphong

The festival aims to enhance cultural cooperation among regional nations.

More than 160 artists from Vietnam and other six ASEAN countries, including Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand will attend the 2019 ASEAN Music Festival, which will take place from May 25 to 31 in Haiphong, local media reported.

The 2019 ASEAN Music Festival is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Vietnam Musicians’ Association, and the Haiphong Department of Culture and Sports, aiming to enhance cultural cooperation among regional nations.
In addition, the festival will offer an opportunity for Vietnam to promote its unique art forms, while contributing to strengthening cooperation in the field of culture and arts between Vietnam and other countries in the region.
Four art troupes with a of total 160 artists representing Vietnam's Northern, Central and Southern regions will join the 2019 ASEAN Music Festival. Each troupe will perform a program with a total duration of 40 minutes to no more than 45 minutes.
The Art Council for the festival will comprise five members, including two Vietnamese and three foreigners. The organizing board of ASEAN Music Festival will award Gold and Silver medals to the outstanding individuals and troupes, and present trophies and souvenir flags to the participants.
Besides performance at the Haiphong Opera House, all artists will have a chance to enjoy outdoor performances in Le Chan, Do Son and Cat Hai districts in Hai Phong.
