Over 1.62 million people in Hanoi pay social insurance contributions

The revenue of premiums of social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance totaled nearly VND12,29 billion (US$528,470).

The number of compulsory social insurance contributors in Hanoi city was 1,623,458 people as of the end of April 2019, up 6.7% year on year, reaching 92.8% of the local government, and representing a coverage ratio of 82.1%.

The number of people participating in voluntary social and unemployment insurance was 23,601 and 1,556,315, reaching 78.6% and 97.5% the targets, respectively.

Some 6.73 people now participate in health insurance, representing an increase of 370,743 people from a year earlier, resulting in health insurance coverage of 86.8% of the population.

The revenue of premiums of social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance totaled nearly VND12.29 trillion (US$525. 2 million), meeting 28.3% of the plan.

In April, the Hanoi Social Security inspected 356 cases with a total social insurance debt amount of VND40.97 billion (US$1.76 million) and recovered VND26.83 billion (US$1.76 million).

In May, the city’s social insurance sector will simultaneously implement solutions to have more compulsory participation in social insurance, unemployment insurance and voluntary social insurance.

At a conference organized by the Hanoi Social Security on January 10, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Ngo Van Quy asked the municipal social security sector to focus on raising the coverage of health insurance to 88.2%, 90% of employees will participate in compulsory social insurance, the growth rate of voluntary social insurance will reach 30%.
