Over 2,000 artisans, artists to join third Central Ethnic Minority Festival
The event aims to preserve and promote the culture identities of Central ethnic minority groups.
More than 2,000 artisans, artists, actors and actresses from 13 localities in Vietnam's central region will participate in the third Central Ethnic Minority Festival, to be held in Tam Ky city of Quang Nam province from August 24 to 26.
The information was announced at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Quang Nam province People’s Committee on August 16.
Accordingly, visitors will have a chance to enjoy a wide range of activities during the festival with highlights of cultural and art programs, a presentation of traditional costumes and a demonstration of the groups’ traditional festivities and rituals. There will also be an exhibition of unique cultural products and cuisines of ethnic minority groups, a traditional sports program and activities to introduce the region’s tourism.
The opening ceremony of the festival is scheduled for 8:00 pm on August 24 in Tam Ky city of Quang Nam province.
The national culture, sports and tourism event intends to honor the special cultural value of central ethnic minority groups and provides a chance for participants to share experience while raising awareness of the importance of preserving and protecting traditional cultural values in the new period to consolidate the great national unity, according to Nguyen Thanh Hong, director of the Quang Nam provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The number of tourists to Quang Nam province was estimated at 3.72 million in the first half of 2018, a year-on-year rise 24%, of which, more than 2 million were foreign visitors, according to the Quang Nam province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
