Over 40 countries and territories to attend 2018 International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City
The highlight of the event will be focus on expanding the tourism market in Northeast Asia, North America, Europe and Southeast Asia.
The 2018 International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City will take place at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center from September 6 to 8, and is expects to attract attendants from more than 40 countries and territories.
The information was announced by Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Tourism La Quoc Khanh at a press conference on August 21.
Accordingly, the organizing board hopes to expand the tourism market in Northeast Asia, North America, Europe and Southeast Asia through the event, making a breakthrough in the city's tourism promotion in the 2018 - 2010 period.
In addition, as many as 375 sellers representing airlines, hotels, resorts, and travel companies from Brunei, Cambodia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Russia will participate in the event.
More than 270 foreign buyers from high demand markets will be attending the event. In addition, the event is expected to draw about 30,000 visitors.
On this occasion, the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism will both be holding tourism programs, demonstrating the friendly cooperative relations between Southeast Asian countries.
Participants will have a chance to attend six workshops during the expo focusing on smart tourism and technological application in tourism. There will be tourism connection programs between cities and provinces in the Mekong River.
The expo is organized by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Tourism, Vietnam Trade Fair and Advertising JSC, and Informa Exhibitions.
Ho Chi Minh City attracted nearly 4.4 million foreign visitors in the first seven months of 2018, according to the municipal Tourism Department.
In 2018, the city’s Tourism Department plans to complete a tourism development strategy which identifies key tourism products and markets to better serve the demands of both domestic and foreign visitors. The southern metropolis is expected to receive 7.5 million foreign visitors this year.
