Party chief meets Yunnan officials during China visit

Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received Secretary of the Yunnan provincial Party Committee Li Ji Heng and other provincial officials upon his arrival in the provincial capital city of Kunming on April 9.

At the reception, Secretary Li spoke highly of the outcomes of the Vietnamese Party leader’s China visit, such as the signing a number of cooperation documents and the agreement on numerous important perceptions to create a new momentum for bilateral ties development.

Yunnan will do its utmost to follow mutually agreed perceptions in order to continually nurture the friendship and cooperation between China and Vietnam and between the province and Vietnamese localities in particular, he said. 
He continued by affirming that Yunnan always treasures its ties with Vietnam and wishes to strengthen its relations with Vietnamese localities for their people’s practical benefit and happiness. 
The Vietnamese Party chief congratulated Yunnan province on its socio-economic development achievements, believing that untapped potential and favourable conditions will enable Yunnan to grow further. 
He also expressed hope for closer cooperation between Yunnan and Vietnamese localities, especially those sharing the border. 
Earlier, the Party leader met the staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the Kunming city, where he informed them of his visit results. 
He said he hopes that the Consulate General will do more to bridge Vietnamese localities and Yunnan, which is China’s south and southwest gateway and borders Vietnam’s Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Ha Giang and Dien Bien provinces. 
He also wished that the Vietnamese community in Yunnan continue supporting each other and help foster the Vietnam-China friendship. 
The Party chief also visited Kunming Urban Planning Museum.
