People ditch landlines for mobile phones

The Hanoitimes -  The number of new mobile phone subscriptions topped 7.2 million in the first quarter, 22 percent higher than in the same period last year, even as landline subscriptions fell 28.1 percent to 677,400, the General Statistic Office said.

The total number of telephone subscribers was 137.6 million at the end of March, 57.7 percent up year o­n year, the GSO said.

It included 19.7 million landline users and 117.9 million mobile-phone subscribers.

The total number of Internet users has risen to 23.3 million, up 37.3 percent year o­n year, including nearly 3.1 million broadband users.
