People light candles in memory of General Vo Nguyen Giap

Ten days before General Vo Nguyen Giap`s first death anniversary, people brought flowers and candles to his house at No. 30, Hoang Dieu Street, Hanoi to commemorate the legendary general.

General Vo Nguyen Giap passed away on October 10 last year at the Army Hospital 108 in Hanoi, where he had been treated since 2009.

For a week, hundreds of thousands of people flocked to his house on Hoang Dieu Street to pay tribute to the legendary general.

The memorial service and funeral was held on October 13, 2013 at the National Funeral Home. The general rests in peace in Vung Chua, Quang Trach district in the central province of Quang Binh, his hometown.
 


 

Over 1.3 million travelers visit grave of General Vo Nguyen Giap

The People’s Committee of the central coastal province of Quang Binh held a ceremony offering incense to late General Vo Nguyen Giap on his first death anniversary in his grave on September 23 (on 30th of the Eighth month in the lunar calendar).

Thousands of people have arrived in the Vung Chua-Dao Yen (Swallow Island) to visit the legendary general’s grave in these days.

Border gate guards in the central province of Quang Binh said that in all more than 1.3 million people paid tribute to  the grave of General Vo Nguyen Giap in the Vung Chua-Dao Yen area after the burial.
