The HAFIVA highly appreciates the efforts in carrying out the people to people diplomatic activities of the Indian Embassy and the Indian Cultural Centerl recently, said Chairwoman of the HAVIFA Phan Lan Tu at the Vietnam – India friendship meeting on August 8 to mark the 71st anniversary of Indian Independence’s Day.
The Holi Festival, the 4th International Yoga Day, film, music performances, education fairs provide chances for the association's members and chapters to better learn about the people and country of India, promote the friendship and mutual understanding between the two nations, Tu said.
Vietnam and India have a tradition of long-standing friendship relation. The Indian government is considering Vietnam its important partner in the Look East policy, the gateway to other ASEAN nations. The official visit of President Tran Dai Quang to India on March 2018 is clearly evident for the close relations, cooperation and development between the two nations, Tu added.
The HAVIFA also tried hard to be the bridge of friendship to bring the two peoples closer with concrete activities such as launching the website, establishing new chapters, training IT for needy students, actively taking part in the events held by the Indian Embassy and the Indian Cultural Center.
In the coming months, the HAVIFA will present a book about the Indian economy, meet with Indian alumuni, provide information on Vietnam-India relations, Indian achievements in social economic developments, music festival, update new articles about India on the association's website, and promote cooperation in education, etc.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Indian President Ram Nath Kovind signed an agreement during their meeting in New Delhi on January 24 as part of the Vietnamese leader’s visit to attend the ASEAN–India Summit. Accordingly, Vietnam and India have agreed to enhance economic and trade partnership to the tune of US$15 billion by 2020.
