The Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee launched a photo contest on Vietnamese and Japanese youths joining hands in fostering friendship, Vietnam News Agency reported.
The contest, part of activities to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan (September 21, 1973), according to MIC Deputy Minister Hoang Vinh Bao.
The photo contest also aims to improve young people’s understanding of the bilateral ties as well as friendship between the two peoples, helping Japanese people and the youth in particular gain a deeper insight into Vietnam’s land and people in the integration process, MIC Deputy Minister added.
Accordingly, photos should capture the solidarity, friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, diplomatic activities, cultural exchanges and economic and political events taking place in both countries, beautiful images of the land, people, customs, and the special cultural characteristics, national construction and socio-economic achievements of the two nations.
Entries can be sent to the organizing board from August 1 to September 30 via post or email at . The organising board will present one first, two second, five third and five consolidation prizes with a total value of VND90 million (US$3,858).
Earlier, Feel Japan in Vietnam 2018 opened in Ho Chi Minh City, as part of events marking 45 years of Vietnam – Japan relations. The two-day festival is treating visitors to a series of performances and activities that show the unique culture and lifestyle of Japan.
They include the performance of kendama (traditional Japanese skill toy for cup-and-ball game); special performances of Ninja and Orian dancing groups from Edo Wonderland - a popular park in Tochigi prefecture; and free-of-charge consultation for beauty care following Japanese methods.
Vietnam welcomed 789,000 Japanese tourists in 2017, up 7.8%, and saw a slight increase of a mere 6.6% over the first five months of 2018 year-on-year, with over 344,000 Japanese tourists, according to Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
