Phu Quoc Island has been named among the Top 10 most stunning Asian islands by Top Inspired magazine.
Thailand has the largest number of destinations on the list, with three islands - Phi Phi, Ko Tao, and Koh Lipe, while Indonesia has two - Gili and Bali. Boracay in the Philippines, Havelock in India, Langkawi in Malaysia, and Jeju in South Korea make up the rest of the list.
According to Top Inspired magazine, Phu Quoc has rapidly morphed from a sleepy island into a must-visit destination. It’s still largely undeveloped, so there’s plenty of room for exploration. Visitors can dive its reefs, kayak in its bays, relax on the beach, indulge in a massage, and dine on fresh seafood. It really is the perfect escape from reality and everyday life, it wrote.
As at July, Phu Quoc Island, off the coast of the Mekong Delta’s Kien Giang province, had attracted 196 projects on 5,110 ha, of which 136 are now in operation, with capital totaling more than VND144 trillion ($6.76 billion). Most are in the tourism sector, according to Deputy Chairman of the Phu Quoc People’s Committee, Mr. Huynh Quang Hung.
Many investors, such as Vingroup and Sun Group, have built resorts, restaurants, hotels and entertainment parks of five or even six-star standard.
Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has recently sent a proposal to the Ministry of Transport (MoT) on investing VND1 trillion ($45.8 million) in increasing the capacity of the passenger terminal at Phu Quoc International Airport.
